Vietnam Olympic delegation reports, prepares to go to Paris

HANOI – The Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism officially announced that the Vietnamese Olympic delegation will compete at the 2024 Paris Olympics in the near future.

The appointment of 39 individuals will be going up by Boss de-Mission Dang Ha Viet, overseer of the Games Authority of Vietnam, who will be upheld by two agents Hoang Quoc Vinh and Ngo Ich Quan.

The July 11 statement named 16 contestants, advisers, unnamed experts, specialists and other staff.

Vietnamese athletes will compete in 11 events: athletics, cycling, swimming, shooting, weightlifting, rowing, canoeing, badminton, archery, boxing and judo.

The Vietnam Sports Administration plans to hold a farewell ceremony for the Vietnamese sports delegation on July 17 in Hanoi. The delegation will participate in the Olympic Competitor Town on July 20.

The energetic colors of more than 200 countries will be on display at the Paris Olympics, which run from July 26 to August 11.

Instead of the usual opening ceremony at the arena, France arranged a water parade along the 6km Seine River and ending at the foot of the Eiffel Tower.

Some 300,000 observers will watch from the capital’s riverside, while a further 1.5 billion people are expected to tune in on TV.

The Paris Games will feature 32 sports, including 28 ‘core’ sports that are also essential for the Games in Rio in 2016 and Tokyo in 2021. Breaking, a fierce form of breakdancing that combines imagination and gymnastic moves, will be showcased at the Games in France. – VNS
