Vietnam’s top female badminton player qualifies for Paris Olympics
Badminton player Nguyen Thuy Linh will be the seventh representative of Vietnam to attend the 2024 Paris Olympics later this spring.
The badminton player posted the news on his Facebook.
“Hello everyone, who loved, supported and followed me throughout my journey, especially a year of accumulating points to reach the Paris 2024 Olympics in late spring. Today, I would like to officially announce that I have been able to go to the Paris 2024 Olympics,” she posted.
“We should look forward to my second Olympics with me. Very grateful and appreciate everyone. Wish everyone peace and happiness.
Linh, the world No. 24, currently has 48,350 points and is ranked 17th in the Rush to Paris rankings.
The Olympic possibilities are almost over. There are only two events left to take place in the not-too-distant future. The consequences of these events will not affect Linh’s situation. That means she has officially secured a place in the women’s singles rankings for the 2024 Olympics.
This will be Linh’s second consecutive time participating in the world’s biggest game.
At the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, Linh could not advance to the next round.
The Vietnam Badminton Federation is still waiting for a spot in the men’s singles for Le Duc Phat.
Six different competitors of Vietnam qualified for the Games are swimmer Nguyen Huy Hoang, cyclist Nguyen Thi That, markswomen Trinh Thu Vinh and Le Thi Mong Tuyen, fighter Vo Thi Kim Anh and weightlifter Trinh Van Vinh.
Vietnam aims to have no less than 12 places at the upcoming Olympics.
